Palm, via their blog, informed us of a ten minute survey they are conducting to better understand how information we manage daily and how people deal with it. The survey is being conducted by research firm Basex on behalf of Palm. Everyone who completes the survey will be eligible for a chance to win one of 5 Treos. Participate in the survey and you just might net yourself a free Treo 750 equipped with Windows Mobile 6.
Palm has set up a website at http://mobilizethevote2008.com, a play off the popular Rock the Vote campaign. Rock The Vote has been very successful in getting young people involved in the political process and encouraging voter registration. The site calls on Millenials, a new term used to describe individuals born between roughly 1982 and 1994, to get involved in the 2008 vote. The 1984-esque video dubbed "Citizen's Cry" curiously starts with the dialogue "They say empires rise and fall... Well, we millenials...our silence is why America fell." While the video paints a dreary picture of our nation's future should generaton Y not have their voices heard, we applaud Palm's effort to get folks involved in 2008.
Despite reports to the contrary, pre-orders of the Treo Pro (now available at Palm) will start shipping in the first two weeks of October. The Palm website incorrectly shows the Treo Pro as "In Stock" and "Usually ships in 1-2 days". If you have pre-ordered the Treo Pro, you'll have to wait just a few more weeks.
Telstra, Australia's largest mobile phone carrier, has awarded their coveted "blue tick" of approval to the Palm Treo Pro. The Palm Treo Pro is the first smartphone to receive the "blue tick", which is awarded to phones that are tested and recommended for use in rural areas on Telstra's NextG network.
