HP To Introduce HP Veer, Pre3 and TouchPad

The proverbial cat is out of the bag, let loose by HP themselves. Their site reveals the products that make sense of the Think Big, Think Small, Think Beyond tagline. The small product is the HP Veer, detailed here by Robert Scoble. There will also be a new Pre, dubbed the Palm Pre 3 and of course the HP TouchPad.

More details as they flow in and of course once the event takes place at 1:00 pm EST. Time to start manufacturing those Pre 3 cases.

Verizon Palm Pre 2 Coming February 17th?

Remember the Palm Pre 2? The phone announced in October of last year for Verizon Wireless. If the screenshot of a Verizon inventory system rings true, the Palm Pre 2 will land on Verizon Wireless on February 17th and will be priced at $100 after rebate. That’s a full four months after the initial announcement.

Verizon Palm Pre 2

To say the Palm Pre 2 is late to the party would be an understatement. With all the hype surrounding next week’s big Think Big event, we have to wonder if Palm is going to deliver that superphone it so desperately needs. We’re stating the obvious, but won’t the Palm Pre 2 get suffocated by the Verizon iPhone, not to mention a shelf filled with Android devices. Worse yet, this release date comes after the Verizon iPhone launch on February 10th, after the HTC Thunderbolt release on February 13th and after Valentine’s Day.

Say it ain’t so. The only thing worse in recent history was Verizon’s decision to target soccer moms.

How you can support homebrew software development

Over the past weekend, HP/Palm hosted a developer conference in NYC. Traveling over 30 hours to take part was Rod Whitby, the gentleman behind webos-internals. If you’ve found yourself putting your Palm Pre (or Pixi) in developer mode and downloading Preware, then you’ve been using software developed by webos-internals. As you can imagine, it gets rather expensive to purchase new phones, which is required to offer support for the rather large homebrew community. To help support the movement and purchase of new phones needed, they are in the midst of a campaign drive. If you’ve found their software useful, you can donate here. The group has already started work on updating patches to work in webOS 2.0.

GSM Palm Pre 2 Now Available From HP

Palm Pre Goes Missing From Sprint’s Website

The original Palm Pre is getting a bit long in the tooth, but up until today it’s been capable webOS phone on Sprint. Sprint’s reluctance to offer a follow-up device (Palm Pre Plus, Palm Pre 2) has been well documented, but now the Palm Pixi is the only option for those looking to purchase a webOS phone on Sprint. Yes, the original WiFi-less Palm Pixi. It would be wishful thinking that perhaps Sprint has been hiding the Palm Pre 2 from us all, but we don’t get that feeling. Perhaps some of those mystery references found in webOS 2.0 source code will find their way to Sprint early next year. We’ll be at CES providing all the coverage of the yet-to-be announced HP Palm event.

Palm Pre Plus Back At Verizon

The Palm Pre Plus had gone missing from Verizon’s website last week, prompting many to think that perhaps they were making room for the forthcoming Palm Pre 2. It looks as if the Palm Pre Plus is back online again at Verizon, so again we’re in a holding pattern waiting for the Pre 2. Still no official release date or reviews, but we have seen a rumored November 11th date. When we hear something, concrete or otherwise, we’ll pass it along.
