Default Some Palm Rumors

Just saw this over at brighthand.com . . . Looks like Verizon and Sprint have some new Palm things coming fairly soon, but by the end of the year, maybe Cingular/GSM carriers will have something to celebrate

Handheld makers are almost always cagey about their plans for upcoming devices.
However, Palm's CEO has decided to at least mention some of the new products his company has on the drawing board..
"We'll roll out the Palm Treo 700w smartphone based on Microsoft's Windows Mobile, and we'll announce three additional new smartphones during calendar year 2006," Ed Colligan said.
He did not, however, reveal any additional details on these.
Unofficial Info

Colligan may have been unwilling to say much about the three smartphones on the docket for next year, but other people haven't been so reticent.
Some industry analysts have revealed some details on these models.
The first, code-named Hollywood, will run the Palm OS and use a very thin design with no external antenna.
It will be released during the second quarter of 2006 by Verizon Wireless, and will support that company's EV-DO high-speed wireless network.
Hollywood might also be available from Sprint.
Sometime around the middle of next year, Palm will announce its first mid-range Treo.
Code-named Lowrider, this model will cost about $200.
At this time, it is not known if this will be Palm OS or Windows Mobile smartphone.
This company is also expected to release a GSM/GPRS version of the Treo 700 next summer, but this doesn't really count as a new model.
Near the end of the year, Palm will introduce another Palm OS Treo. This will be offered by Cingular Wireless and will support this carrier's UMTS network.
