Another suggestion is to repair your permissions. To do this, restart with the OS X CD and then open Disk Utility. Click repair permissions.

Did re-install. An Apple doc recommends repairing permissions as you did. Did that. Didn't help. Archived and re-installed OSX V.10.4.4 archiving existing stuff. Didn't help. Tomorrow I will re-install Palm one more time. If that does not work I'm turning my weak mind off!
