I use the Treo 650 extensively in the car. Treo keeps good signal connection in Raleigh area. It will drop out (even near cell site) in especially low areas, like other phones. I added a 5db antenna and adapted it to Treo antenna jack on top rear of phone. Adds one bar, which is the difference between talk and no-talk. I have also used a CellPhone Mate CM1000 to add another bar in problem areas.

More to the point of your question, I use Bluetooth for headset effectively in Xterra, but this is not built in.
