Default SanDisk Ultra II issues

So I'd ordered 2GB card from a Pricegrabber storefront, and it was delivered yesterday. I was all excited, ready to start putting MP3s on my new card. After a quick backup of my old SD card (Sandisk "Blue" 128MB), I pop in the new card. Card Info sees the card just fine, as long as I don't try to do anything with it. If I do, the card disappears from Card Info.
So, I run to OfficeMax and pick up the only card reader they had in stock, a brand called Digital. Both DOS and Windows formats appear to complete normally, but afterwards the card shows with 0 free space. Being a little skeptical of the unknown brand, I run out again, this time to Wal-Mart (shudder). I snag the last Sandisk 12-in-1 card reader that they have, only to return home and get the same results when attempting to format the card.
I sent an e-mail to the address at the Pricegrabber storefront explaining the problem, and was suprised to receive a reply in less than an hour. I'm sending the bad card back, and they are sending me another one, no questions asked.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for round two...
