Hello Gadget,
The Sprint Treo 700p's indicator light now blinks green when you have a new alert. This way, you can be aware of new alerts even if the screen is off. It is mentioned in the User Guide.
The light does not blink when the phone is in standby, due to popular demand. I imagine you probably had an alert of some sort at the time you saw it blinking.
