I have noticed that Cingular currently is selling three different versions of a WM phone, all branded under Cingular's name. All of these are actually HTC phones sold around the world under various other names. This has to make good business sense. Anytime you remove a 3rd party company, be it Palm or Nokia, you remove cost. I believe this is a trend that will continue. The 8125 is a WM phone that lists for $349 but most of the time, Cingular has it on sale for around $200. I confess, if I were considering a 700W and walked into a Cingular store, and saw the same OS on a phone $100-$200 cheaper, I would be very tempted to walk out the door with it . . . Of course, I do my reading also, and am aware of some power limitations of this device, but for a lot of consumers, they would jump on this phone for its price point alone . . . . . Sprint is doing a similar thing with the ppc-6700. I think its also a given that the future Palm OS will be licensed to companies such as HTC to build devices to be sold under different brands, not just Treo or Palm . . In fact, I don't think that Palm has even officially announced their intent to adopt the coming OS have they??

Lets all hope that T-mobile gets back into the Treo game. And if not, lets hope they at least get into the real PDA game.
