Got it done the other day. Here's what I did:
1. First, I had been using Palm Desktop but going to Versamail and Activesync I need to sync with Outlook. I reinstalled my old software and told it to sync with Pocket Mirror. That moved all my current calendar to Outlook calendar after I synced one time, which had been empty. It also merged my Desktop contacts with my Outlook contacts, which required some time to clean up.
2. I then changed the name of the backup folder in Palm to backup.old, then uninstalled the old software, installed the new, telling it to sync with Outlook. Then I attached the new Treo and synced, moving everything onto the handheld.
3. The Active Sync/Versamail worked great with minimal setup. I can now sync wirelessly, either just mail or everything. I've been reinstalling the old third party apps one at a time; only one that has been a problem has been Launcher X, which caused a crash regularly; there is a new version that I'll get that uses the five way.
Thanks for your efforts. Things appear to be just fine. It's just a little nervewracking when you've got a ton of data you can't afford to lose. |
