Edit: I agree that cost containment for the 680 is not the reason. If so, more expensive PalmOS devices like the 650 or 700p would have WiFi capability. |
What I'm reading in a lot of unsubstantiated corners is that Palm OS can't handle WiFi connections.
Plus, in the US, if they offer WiFi, it's only a matter of time before someone puts together a VoIP solution for the Palm, which would kill some service providers.
