Marketing wanted to be able to sell providers the possibility that with the Disconnect feature buried elsewhere, users are more likely to leave their connections on, which means more money to providers in the form of connect rates and downloads.
Heck, I know it's cynical, but if you're a corporation what's the only thing that matters most? Your survival, which is dependent on money and returns to your shareholders. Everything else is subordinant, and helps achieve that goal.
The other explanation is that the 600 didn't have Blazer as its browser, and Blazer maybe had the Disconnect function absent all along. Can someone confirm, or is this new missing Disconnect menu item a new missing feature in the 680 version of Blazer?
And maybe, just maybe, the UI engineers at Palm had a bad day, and someone with a forceful argument won the "April 12, 2006, 3 p.m. TREO 680 INTERFACE meeting in the 3COM MEMORIAL CONFERENCE ROOM" at Palm HQ.
Heck, if I wanted shortcuts to fix an issue, I'd have a shortcut that boots up Windows Mobile 5.0 on my Palm device! |

. I'm new to the treo the 680 is my first but the program i posted was for the treo 650 part of Tools for Treo 2.1 found it on Palm Gear; so I'm guessing that the 650 was missing the disconnect function as well.
Don't stomp on someone trying to help out because you're frustrated with palm os. bye the way if you want windows mobile on your treo get the 750v it's on ebay that way you'll be happy
