This has been talked about in GREAT detail here and other places. It ranges from doing a full/extended charge, letting it run down real low, then a full/extended charge again.

Some people call it a "battery reset."

The thing with the 680 is that in order to get it "slimmer," the battery size had to be cut down. There is or should be in the near future a Seido battery out with a bit more horse power.

Palm did this because other "slim" phones did it and their users accepted the bad battery life for the "slim" look.
