I think the main concern is not just the battery life, but the goal of cellular providers to raise revenues. There have been some who have claimed to hack the 650 and get wifi, but, I've never tried it. Cellular communications is radio based, as is wifi. There may be concerns about the two types of RF interfering with each other under some situations. I think eventually cellular providers will explore wifi, but not before they determine how to exploit it. At airports & such, wifi is a serious cash cow for someone. Remember the days when you could connect a laptop to a cell phone and nobody cared? Now its a pay feature, in some cases beyond regular data plans. By the time wifi is an added feature, look for the providers to have their hand out charging for it. It would be nice to be able to sync or network through wifi though.
