I have a DVR and cable...never really got into a tivo mood! would have had to upgrade and hack the hell out of it.....thats my style...
I'm surprised you haven't jumped on the Tivo bandwagon. I think there are books about how to hack it -- upgrade the hard drive -etc.

I have had 4 xboxes each hacked and modded....everytime someone sees what I had done they want it and pay way too much for it....I can't say no. After I sold my last one I said forget it and haven't bought another yet....Plus I already beat halo2 so I was pretty much done with it...
I have one lone modded xBox and it's great. I like the games better than with PS2. My PS 2 has been collecting dust. At first, I thought Sony was going to win the next gen cosole war -- but apparently most of what we've seen is CGI graphics and not actual gameplay. I like the look of the 360 and plan on getting it. Any benefit to pre-ordering it? Other than the ability to actually buy one when they come out.

I was looking at Direct but have too good a deal with what I got now.....I have 6mb. broadband speed through my cable company.....I know ican't even utilize it all but better to have too much than not enough.
We just got FIOS in our neighborhood, but I'm tied to cable for my phone service. I still might make the jump to FIOS and change my phone number yet again. I hear the speeds are outrageous.

guess Xbox is losing 102 dollars a unit and on units alone stand to lose hundreds of millions of dollars...but will make it up on game contracts and accessories.....
They are getting "kickbacks" on games and accessories......If the game makers don't sign a contract then the game doesn't get made for xbox....same goes with the accessories.
I've heard the $299 price point being talked about...but is that a sure thing. I think it makes sense for them to get a piece of the accessories. If they make the 360 more affordable, they'll have more market saturation -- which means the accessory companies will sell more accessories. Seems to me that everybody wins - Microsoft, Accessory companies and the consumer.
