Well, a bit of an update... It's been 6 days and not a single data stall.
Things are going so well that I took the plunge and added a custom ROM. I got rid of Versamail, Real Virus, and some other misc. crap, added the FAT32 driver and the SDHC slot driver. The Treo seems more stable ("dead" space in the ROM apparently increases available dbcache, the PalmOS equivalent of a Windows swap file). Hopefully I'll have some extra funds to try out a 4Gb card shortly.
