Newuser, where did you get your upgrade files? Are you using the unbranded version from here?
The palm installer can't be run from the SD until you extract the ROM file and put ONLY the ROM file on the SD card.
Just wanted to be clear since you mentioned you copied the install files (plural) and there should only be 1 image file.
Glance at the unbranded install instructions if you're still unclear on what I mean.
