Not a silly question at all. However, it would be premature to speculate or provide any kind of answer and have any confidence the speculation would be accurate.

That said, as a Palm user since 1996-97, I would find it difficult to believe that Palm would abandon completely the user base they have (millions?) and make the new system unable to port over the Palm Desktop data. I do believe they will have a different version as they do for Vista, but it should be backwards-compatible.

That is strictly my opinion and not based on any knowledge or fact.

I might be inclined to hedge my bets though and create a backup of my data residing in Outlook because I believe that would continue to be supported, but again, it is a guess as to what they will do.

I am sure that as it draws closer this will be discussed ad-nauseum and people will have plenty of warning and time to prepare.

It is probably not something to lose sleep over....
