"here are the multiple addresses per contact (home AND business)"

I would recommend Key Contacts from Chapura.com which allows all of the Outlook Address fields to transfer to your Treo/Palm device and there is a 30 day free trial.

(2)what happened to all the categories I've assigned to all my contacts in Outlook?

Chapura pocket mirror can handle this but, while Outlook allows unlimited categories, Mirror is limited to , I think, 16, a free Calendar application comes with this program.  This would be a good program to start with but there is no free trial (although there is a 30 day money back gurantee). Pity, becuase this program gives a great feel as to how conduits and mappings can be used

"If Datebook+ can't handle these things, is there a highly rated 3rd party app that can?"

I use PlanPlus from FranklinCovey.com which has a great replcement of the todo app which integrates with its replacement for the Datebook+ app. The free trial of this program is a good place to start.

If you don't like the Planplus Task program, try the free trial of DateBk5 at www.pimlicosoftware.com . (Datebook+) is a scaled down version of this program. I do find it is prone to crashing.

After this, try IntelliSync from PumaTech. This program gives incredible felxibility on conduits, mapping, and syncronziation.  Its only problem is its too flexible and could confuse an new user.

I also use PocketJournal from Chapura.com that allows you to use Outlook Jorunal on your handheld.
