I'm a Mac user. I'm totally convinced that Windows Mobile won't sync properly, won't work well with my Mac, etc. (Of course, I'm convinced of this purely out of my history / experience working with Windows "in general," not out of direct experience with Windows Mobile.)
Well, there is no bigger Mac user than myself. I don't think you'll get Mac support "out of the box". However, I do believe that Mark/Space will have their solution ready to go by the launch of the Windows Mobile Treo. I don't think it's right that we have to purchase third party software to get it "functioning", but we might be better off. I've always felt that Mark/Space's Missing Sync was a much better product than HotSync Manager. As a Mac user, you're probably better off using the new Palm device.

So now that I've built my entire personal organizational world around my Treo (vs. another brand), they're heading down a path that is going to strand me when I want the latest/greatest hardware from Treo?
I personally believe that Palm is going to introduce a new Palm OS based Treo that will be better than the Windows Mobile Treo in many respects -- and obviously it's much better suited for Mac users with Palm Desktop already supporting the Mac platform. The advantages of the Windows Mobile Treo are more directed towards companys and IT departments that are looking for a device to work seamlessly with their Windows based systems. Palm's foray into Windows Mobile based smartphones will provide the company with more revenue to continue development of better products (Palm OS and Windows Mobile based). You might not have the latest and greatest Palm device in January of 06' (and it's still debatable about whether the Treo 700W is better than the Treo 650), but it's my guess that Palm will have a follow up product based on the Palm OS.

Are no other Mac users scared to death of this new direction by Treo????? Is nobody else pissed that they made this change? I mean, why not Linux? Or symbian, even?
I wasn't pissed when Apple made iPods for PC's..wasn't pissed when they switched to Intel (well, sort of:rolleyes. The point is that Palm is doing what it has to in order to expand it's market. If they stop making Palm OS based Treo's or we end up being second class citizens, then it's time to write letters. Until then, I'll either use the Mark/Space solution with the 700 or wait for them to one up the 700W with a 700P or Treo 750 for that matter.
