    Question Hide System Tray

I am running Windows Mobile 5 on my Treo 700wx. I would like to have the system tray removed from the Today screen. Frankly, the system tray is useless. Does anyone have a hack or other method of removing the system tray? I am attaching a picture to show the item to which I am referring.

The green area (obviously) is the system tray.

That ST is a result of something you have installed on your phone.
It is not there with the default software that comes with your phone.
I had this same ST appear on my phone after installing "something". I am not sure yet what it was. However, I do know that at one point I had to do a HARD reboot of my phone, and re-install my software and this time I am not installing everything that I HAD on it... so far I have NO ST showing up..
I will have to pay attention and see if and when it does appear as I add software. I see you have Pocket Informant, what version?
I HAD installed PI v.2007 free trial version, but now I just went with an older version, which my son gave me for free. Maybe it is PI 2007 that created the ST? Like you I HATED the ST and was doing all I could trying to get rid of it, trying different themes and all, and that is when my phone LOCKED UP... even with a soft reboot, it would not respond.

AHA! I found out what creates the ST.. it's Pocket Informant.
Once I open that program I have a ST... and then if I close it and do a soft reset the ST is gone!
but soon as I open Pocket informant it appears again.
So if you don't want the ST.. don't use Pocket Informant!

You might want to see if there is an option in the program settings to not show anything in the System Tray. I know I was able to hide icons from showing in the ST when using other apps on my 700w.

    Cheers!

Your system tray is created by Pocket Informant. You can get rid of it by changing your settings. Select "Tools & Settings", then "Settings". Scroll to the "Advanced Settings". There is an option there to "Enable System Tray Icon". Change the setting to NO and your system tray will be gone.

Now if someone can help me get rid of my system tray.....Mine is there because I am using the Wireless Sync option from Verizon to sync my Outlook email, contacts, calender, etc. I can not locate any settings where I can change this....Any suggestions?????

Okay well now I have the same problem. I use wireless sync and I still have that stupid icon there, and today out of nowhere ilauncher decide to put its icon right next to wireless sync icon for no reason.
how do I get rid of that???!!
Treo 700wx. My first PDA Smartphone Windows Mobile thing. (Seriously, all this crap is confusing. My device and I currently have a love-hate relationship.)
High Maintenance, Blonde, and I obsess if Mr. Treo is not working, until I fix it. :P.. unlucky for you.
