Issues with Office 07 Attachments

We have a half dozen TREO 700wx phones. The OS on the phone is Wndows Mobile 5.0. Recently I have gotten a couple of emails with attachments I couldn't open and I actually suspect that the issue is that they are office 2007. I suspect from having to load a converter on our desktops to read such attachments in Office 2003 that this is likely the problem.

Here is a couple of questions. 1) will Windows mobile 6.x cure this problem. 2) if so is Sprint (to your knowledge) going to release an upgrade for this phone. 3) in the absence of this, what is a good solution. Our office will be upgrading to Office 2007 shortly so this will become frequent, not an ocassional problem. Thanks
