Default Upgrading to Windows Mobile 6

I have a treo 700w from Verizon that came with Mobile 5. I was just wondering how difficult/risky is it to upgrade to Mobile 6?

I'm fairly comfortable with partitioning and formatting drives and fresh installs of XP, somewhat comfortable with flashing firmware onto peripherals. I read that Mobile 6 has better memory management and just overall runs faster between applications than Mobile 5, so I'd like to upgrade, but if there's a big risk of me buggering up my phone permanently...

Thoughts, comments, war stories, suggestions welcome...

At present there is no legal way (or illegal) that I know of. WM6 is available for the 755 but I think that's the only one. I've seen on this forum where Spring nor Verizon will be offering this upgrade; sad to say.

Well they all say if isn't broke then don't fix it.

Having said that I upgraded the bios of most motherboards that I owned in the past. Upgraded firmware from other devices and upgraded ROMs too on my XDA's.

If you really want to upgrade to WM6 or WM6.1 then go ahead upgrade it but if you are just curious then maybe you should think again. I am not familiar with upgrading on Treo but if you nedto connect it with your PC then I suggest you use a laptop so you don't have to worry about power failure because if your PC turned off during the upgrade then bye bye Treo
