Default A Better Option than Varsamail!

    Hi there,

I used Varsamail for a while, but it lacks a lot of functionality and is by no means a quick way to access your email on your Treo.

So I did a little research

There are a number of cheap or free apps out there for installing on your device that enable you to get your email. Some are slow, some lack features and some are expensive. One that I did find and download a free trial of was called Always-On Mail. Available from

    http://www.workoutofoffice.com/softw...ernet_edition/

This application is cheap, very feature rich, easy to set up and syncs your email in seconds without any need to do anything on your device. You just get a beep when there's a new mail and there it is on your Treo.

    Highly recomend this one.

    Take care.

Just an update. I have now also compared the Seven app with visto and consilient. Wins hands down on both functionality and ease of install.

If you are a Palm OS user, have you tried ChatterEmail?

I've not tried that one... Will certainly add it to my list of mobile email apps to trial.

I've been considering jumping ship from Snapper, due to their lack of any development in several months (I believe they had a mass exodus of developers a while back). However, I've had a wait and see attitude since Marc was hired by Palm a few months ago. Hopefully Palm will bundle Chatter with future Treos instead of Versamail.

SnapperMail when I first started using it was an excellent application that was really well supported. After about 8 months, they were down to two developers and then the main dude left and since then, nothing has been done of significance. I liked its operation, except for the requirement to move messages manually to the card via the 3am operation or the forced operation. I quickly got tired of that and started using ChatterEmail. Two days later I purchased a license and have not looked back since.

Do a search here for Chatter or Chatteremail and you will probably find Ben and I in the replies. I love this app for my Treo! The developer was hired by Palm and it is now sold on Palm's web site. Kreith is right! Not sure exactly what the future is of this app, but its by far, the best, most versatile mail app I have used. If you have access to IMAP protocol, or have several email accounts, you should enjoy Chatter and the features it offers.

    Hi there,

Thanks for the tip on chattermail. Must admit though, I've now been using the Seven always-on mail app for a little while and have no complaints... Seems to work quickly and was v easy to install so I may stick with this.

Thanks for the tips though guys

Just a final update here. I've now finished the trial and purchased ALways-On Mail... It really does seem to do the job so think I'll stick with it.

Thanks again for all of your advise :laugh3:

    Hi Richard:

I wanted to say thanks for following through with posting your experience all the way to your final selection and purchase. All too often these threads wind up leaving one wondering what a final resolution or selection was, which may not fully help the people looking for answers or guidance.

    Bravo!
