HELPPP!!! why does my treo keep restarting??? I dont want to get a new one... cause i dont want to have to install everything all over again.. and i dont want a refurbished one!! Anyway to check how much memory i have left on it (not the expansion card just the board) and anyway to see if there is anything wrong with it and maybe it will tell me why it keeps restarting..?

I just read a little more online about the gmail account.. it says

"Please note that if your client does not support SMTP authentication, you won't be able to send mail through your client using your Gmail address. "

Is this my problem? So I wont be able to send mail only receive?

I just tested it and received the same message you did.

I then checked the box under Advanced Settings > Outgoing Server Settings to Use authentication (ESMTP). I was then able to send mail using the Gmail account.

One weird thing though.. it just downloaded 171 messages. Considering I downloaded the whole account this morning, it shouldn't have done that. I'm guessing that my settings at Gmail are a bit screwy.

Hope this helps.
Chris

You have to enable POP under your Gmail Settings. That should fix the issue with it repeating downloads of older messages.

I hope I can be of some help. I use Gmail. I started using it on the Treo using versamail. Although I could send and receive mail, sometimes it would freeze. I wouldnt necessarily have to reset it, but I would have to wait a couple of long minutes to get out of the frozen screen. When it did that, I couldnt send or receive for a while.
Also with versamail, when I would email someone from my computer, it would then send me a copy of that sent email to my treo. Not sure if thats good or a waste of time...but I think thats part of their archiving feature.

Anyway, I got tired of versamail's glitchiness and decided to try chattermail. I have to say, I never get any errors. Leads me to conclude that versamail was the source of the problems and not gmail. Interestingly, chattermail doesnt load messages sent from my computer like versamail did.

On a side note, I'm using fastmail(free) as a forwarding IMAP email so that I can get my gmail messsages immediately on to my treo. In fact, I get them before my computer's Gmail notifier. I can go into more detail if someone wants to set up theirs like this.

The settings are different for Sprintpcs accessing gmail. Everything is the same accept for 465 instead of 587.

Chris,

How are you getting the screen shots?
I use a program called ScreenShot. Opt-Space takes a quick
photo. Then I mount my SD Card
and quickly resize them in Photoshop.
