If you tried configuring your SMTP server on port 465 (with SSL) and port 587 (with TLS), but are still having trouble sending mail, try configuring your SMTP to use port 25 (with SSL).

all i know is mine is working, after i tryed it now so if you still having problem try it.

incomming is 995 and SSL chceked
outgoing is 25 SSL checked ESMTP checked

    good luck

    Default gmail

I have tried everything I can find online to access my gmail.

I have changed my preferences so that I will accept 999kb....still doesn't work.

Is there some sort of manual for this?

    I have a treo 700w.
    And I am thoroughly lost.

    Help!??

(Disclaimer: Post this here because its the best forum I've found about versamail. Found one a week ago more related to what I'm going to ask, but have no idea where it is now)

So here's my story. Just got a 650 from Ebay. Unlocked it immediately (650unlock.com) and installed a few programs and so on. Was able to set up versamail for my gmail account with no problems. Works like a charm. Tried to set up an account for my university e-mail account and it is throwing me off a little.

I've got 600-something messages on the university account so when I got versamail set up for the account, i went ahead and let it download all the old mail. It worked fine, but i don't want to have 600-something messages sitting on my phone. I deleted them, thinking that if I downloaded them once i wouldn't have to re-download them.
I was wrong, when I click on get mail (or whatever the button is you push) it tried to re-download all of them.

I was basically just trying to set it up to get new messages when I don't have access to a computer (which isn't all that often, but i wanted to get it set up before I actually needed it

    Any suggestions?

    Default Treo 700P help

Chris - I was reading your last thread and hopefully you can help me.

Currently I have a macbook pro, osx.

I use Gmail the web based version as my primary account but also pop my mail over to "mail" client on the mac so I can access it offline and just find old emails at anypoint, a local archive in a sense.

    Below are my gmail settings***********

Forwarding and Pop - current settings:

    Forwarding:

    *Disable forwarding

    Pop Download:

1)Status: Pop is enabled for all mail that has arrived since Jul 9.

    2) Keep Gmail's copy in the inbox

    ****

Now my question is on the Treo 700p for verizon - whenever I send an email from my gmail account, it shows up in my versamail inbox as from me. Is there a way not to see mail I send but only mail Irecieve from other users?

But now when I compose an email from versamail using gmail, every one of my emails is preceeded by this silly mumbo jumbo below: How do I get rid of this?

    Gail Albert Halaban" <gailalbertwireless@gmail.com>
    Date: Sun, 12 Feb 2006 15:18:00 -0500
    Mime-Version: 1.0
    X-Mailer: VersaMail(c) 1998-2004 3.0C, palmOne, Inc.
    X-Sender: Gail@gailalberthalaban.com
    X-Priority: 3
    Importance: Normal
    Content-Type: text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1"
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
Anyone figure a way to get rid of this? I'm experiencing the same thing from versamail. By the way, setting the SMTP port to 25 worked for me. I could receive, but not send with the port being 465.

I know this has been beaten to death in this thread, but I cannot seem to get the right combination on my Treo 650 to send gmail (receive works fine).

My wireless carrier is Cingular if that makes a difference.

I have tried every combination of using ports 25, 465, 587 with SSL and ESMTP. I have seen the dreaded "STARTTLS" error message, and a "530 5.5.1 Authentication Required message, as well as a "No response from SMTP Server" message.

My gmail account has POP enabled.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks!

    Default PPP connection

    Hello
I am a new user of the Treo 650 and having some trouble with Versamail. It apparently fails to establish a 'PPP connection', when trying to get mail from the device. I have also tried to setup email from the settings manager from Programs/palmOne/VersaMail Setup. I have tried there the same and similar settings. When doing the 'Test' , communication fails at the 'opening connection from incoming mail server' step. It says:
    "SSL connections not allowed.
Can't create a network communication object."
I don't know if this is because of VersaMail, gMail or the wireless connection. gMail account has POP enabled.

    Thank you

This is just a quirk of gmail. I don't believe there is a workaround.
