AIM SMS Palm App?
Hello all,
Wife and I are looking at getting a 755p and a Centro from Verizon with an unlimited text messaging plan.
It seems the Verizon PalmOS phones do not have an AIM app. After doing some searching and calling around I found the mobile.aol.com site which talks about AIM txt and IM 2 SMS.. which works.
I was "told" there might be a PalmOS app that would act like an AIM/YIM app.. buddy list, status, etc.. But I have yet to find one - they all seem to use a 'Data Connection'.
Searching on forums for the terms "AIM" or "SMS" or "AIM SMS" is 'too short' and never gets any results, so I can not imagine that I am the first.. If this is a common answer I could not find it.
Thanks in advance.
(Not a single VZ rep was in favor of a Palm device.. I had to ask several times for an answer to my question: "How do I do AIM on the 755p or Centro?" I can not accept an answer that includes the words "Blackberry".. :P )

Mundu works on my 755p, works perfect for my aim. Works for yahoo, gtalk, msn, icq....

Pre-Requisites
Make sure you have the following with you before we start:
- A PDA which runs Palm OS.
- An active Internet connection on your phone
(EDGE, GPRS or WiFi).
- Atleast one of the following Instant Messaging accounts:
MSN, AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, Jabber or Gtalk.
Thats it! Now we get on to the good stuff.
I am looking for something that does not need Internet.
I am looking for something that uses SMS.
Thanks in advance.

Doesn't the built-in messaging program use SMS? Take a look here for Palm's description. The big question is if Verizon has disabled that so you subscribe to their paid services. I don't have VZW so I don't know...
When I had my 650 I used Toccer, a great program, but I believe that used data.

EDIT: If you are holding out for an IM format that uses text messaging I think that will be a hold up. They work off data and I think that is what allows for things like the Buddy List. I am not a text expert though.
