    Default attachments in chatteremail

I've got my new 700p now, after having a 650 that got crushed, and this time I am going to put the Treo to work. So I am playing around with DTG, trying to see what it can do. I installed the desktop app and can synch docs on that way, but when I send myself an attachment via email ( chatteremail, which I just installed the trial of today on some of your fine recommendations) I can't see the doc. When I receive the email, it doesn't show the attachment, and then when I select to download more, it completes the load of the email and shows a winmail.dat file, nothing else.

I am sure this isn't a brilliant question, but what setting have I missed? Shouldn't I see the file and be able to click on it to launch it in DTG?

    Thanks,
    Alexi

    Hi:

What file format is the attachment?

I don't use Chattermail, but I am guessing they have an option to select regarding Downloading Attachments -Yes or No. Probably somewhere in the Properties/Preferences sections. Versamail has the option in Preferences > Delivery Options.

If you have the choice, is it set to Yes?

    I hope this helps,

When I click more, it then ask me to sync, I do that and it loads the document. I click the link for the document and it asks if I want to save it or open. I click open and it launches DTG.

Yes, I get the click more, asks me to sync, then appears to load the doc. but that is when i am getting an attachment that is a winmail.dat file, when what i sent myself is an xls. (after the date, it says "Loaded: winmail.dat")

as for the settings - i can't find such an option in chatter - just lets me choose how many lines to load with initial download, which i have set at the default of 40.

This is from the Chattermail Site's FAQs:

I'm Not Seeing Attachments That Are Sent To Me There are a few common reasons for this...

If your senders use a Microsoft Exchange server, it's most likely that your senders are sending in Microsoft's internal format (which can be turned off in Outlook). No other applications can see them in this format.

Another possibility is that they are being sent from a Mac, in which case the mail program needs to be told to use windows-friendly attachments.

If you can't figure out the problem, please send us a log showing the LOADING of a message that should have attachments (but doesn't), following the instructions in the FAQ regarding logging.
