They are similar applications and both get the basic job done. Resco Backup restores Java files; BackupManager does not. Resco Backup has been updated to work very well with the 700p.

BackupBuddy VFS and Resco are similar applications and get the bsaic job done. I do not remember if it does Java files, I did not use it very long. Of the two programs Resco Backup is the heavier-dutier of the two.

Here's some screenshots from the Blue Nomad site (the Mac screenshots are towards the bottom of the page). A basic set-up is pretty easy, and from there you can get as complex as you want.

The learning curve with both programs is not too steep, BackupBuddy is a bit easier to use. If you are interested in using the device based release of BackupBuddy VFS, take the time to determine if it does restore all of the files you are interested in. For instance, if you use Java based applications, find out if it does restore Java files. As mentioned above, BackupManager does not. Resco Backup and NVBackup restore Java files.

BackupManager and Resco Backup DO NOT backup camera pictures that are in RAM, there is one that does ... but it has not been updated for the 650/700p series - I cannot remember the name...

Anyway, do yourself a favor - do a complete backup of your device to your desktop then install each one, do a complete backup, hard reset and restore - make sure it restores those files that are important to you - that is the only reason I no longer use BackupManager (though some have had problems with memory instability with it).

Dear Benjie,

This might sound excruxiatingly painful to you but could you tutor me as to how to perform a hard reset ?

Thank you for posting the link. The directions are for a 650 - if you are doing a 700p then hold the power key instead.

I used the hotsync UP TO NOW. I had everything archived and it was great until this new version. When I back up my TREO it erases everything from my previous backup.

Resco Backup and NVBackup are the 2 to consider. Of the 2, Resco Backup (paid) has a few more options.
