My vote's for Snapper. This does happen on occasion with archived mail on the card, but usually I save the text files in DocstoGo and rename them with the sender and subject as the title so that I have my own archive within Docs to Go.

Sorry for the late reply. I would love to share my experience with fellow treo owners.

I have two major accounts (who doesn't ), one from my company and one gmail. The corp one was POP3, so I was very happy with Snapper. But early this year, our company changed to Exchange 2003, and POP3 and IMAP access were both blocked by IT. What I did was leave Outlook on all the time and copy every incoming e-mail to a subfolder in fastmail.fm (upgraded to paid service $20/yr, because I want to store all my large attachments. But the free one works as good). Gmail was also auto forwarded to another subfolder. Under this configuration, the chatter starts to shine. In most of the time, I get real push e-mail (within seconds) on my treo all day long.

So, all the cost for this setting:
    1. Fastmail account: free or $20/yr (other options are also available),
    2. Chatter $32 (one time fee)

    Very happy so far.

One more thing, Marc keeps publishing beta like crazy . Most are great, but I did find several versions with problems, mostly battery drain. Now I just save several versions and stick with the one which works the best (1.1b5 recently).

    Question

I am new to Treo, as a matter of fact, my unit is on the mail as I type this note...

I am wondering that do I need one of those programs you mentioned in order to get my yahoo mail?

How does it work? Do I need an additional mail browser? At home, I set up at Outlook to retrieve my mails from Yahoo. Is it same type of setting? Can someone briefly explain, please?

    Thank you very much already.

If you have the paid type of Yahoo account that works with POP3, then yes, you can use any of the e-mail client programs that run on the Treo. If you have only the basic free Yahoo service, you can use the web site wap.oa.yahoo.com to retrieve your webmail.

I have always used Versamail since my first Treo 600. Maybe I am cheap, but it has always worked well for me.

I have two major e-mail accounts and one free based on Yahoo! since cingular and yahoo are working fine together (so far) here's what I did

I set the Mobile options in my free yahoo account to alert to my phone using the SMS service.

Then using my Outlook to recieve e-mails from my two accounts using POP3 accounts I created a rule to have every e-mail forwarded to my free yahoo account.

So I recieve an alert instantly using the SMS and I'm saving batteries by not having to use the auto sync to conect every 5 minutes to check my e-mails.

The only drawback to it is that my PC must be turn on and running outlook for this to work.

I bought Iambic Mail SSL a few weeks ago. I have both POP and IMAP3 accounts setup on it as well as my gmail account on it. So far so good. Attachments get automatically stored in my SD card. I use Mobi-systems docs to view them, such as word, excell, jpegs etc.

How about giving a try to Aileron mail? The mobile email solution can be used to manage mailboxes that are accessible via: IMAP4 and POP3 (with or without SSL), portals like Hotmail, MSN, AOL, GMail, Yahoo, as well as Microsoft Exchange based mailboxes that are accessible via Outlook Web Access. A no-cost no-obligation evaluation is available.

I invite you all to experience Aileron Mail. If you have questions, you can always meet me on-line for interactive chat between 7am and 5pm EST, Monday through Friday, at www.corsoft.com.

Chattemail looks great and I have it a try for a few days. Unfortunately, chattermail is not practical for SDMA Treo 650s because the push technology that comes with it disables voice calls and in turn your incomming calls are automatically sent to your voicemail.
