I didn't have a 600 so this is an app I hadn't heard of but looked it up and it sounds like something I would like to have on my Treo 650 so I'm subscribing to this thread

Good choice. Chris reviewed the 600's version here if you want more information on the app.

Now that's SOON! Wahoo!
Velocityware just shot to the top of my list and if it's a stable upgrade, it'll stay there. greeniis, please post your experience.
Chris, I'd love to get a thread going on people's experience with Call Filter for 650. Should we continue this one or start a new one in the Applications forum?
Also, how 'bout an updated review? tia.

Default Almost theerrrreeee...

FYI, I've tried to d/l Call Filter for Treo 650 (i.e. v1.3, which VelocityWare is calling "Call Filter for Treo 600/650") but the d/l looks like v1.2, not 1.3. I didn't enable it for fear of crashing my 650.
I e-mail the dev again. Perhaps they've just updated the web page in anticipating of an imminent release.

I have released CallFilter V1.3 For Treo 600/650. I have limited
distribution of this version because the Treo 650 is quite different
from the 600, and I want to make sure we have all kinks worked out
before there is mass distribution through all mediums. If a person
has an older version of CallFilter, their serial number will work with
this new version of CallFilter. Anyone is free to download a free
trial of CallFilter V1.3 at
http://www.velocityware.com/downloads/callfilter.zip

Thanks for all the positive comments about CallFilter and the
encouragement! The review in EverythingTreo.com was a very
encouraging and helped motivate me to continue development for the
650.

Thanks all,
Rob (VWARE)

Default Experience update

Just an update on my experience thus far.

I really find the feature set useful. There are a couple of things that the developer (incredibly responsive, btw!) needs to iron out. Most importantly, v1.3 includes a built-in MP3 player (and Ogg Vorbis & WAV plugins come bundled) which they call VelocityPlayer. VelocityPlayer doesn't seem to work and may have been responsible for crashes when trying to set/unset an MP3 as a ringtone. Rob acknowledges the bug and I'm sure a fix is forthcoming.

Second, you can also set a photo from your media library (RAM or card) as a splash when that caller rings, but the size in teeny; the Treo's built-in ability to do this seems better.

Overall, it's working well and, since you can still set PocketTunes to the default Music player, the VelocityPlayer glitch hasn't really affected me.

Anyone else?

-K

P.S. What Call Filter still can't do (and to be fair, I don't believe this is a software limitation) is auto-answer a call with a sound of your choice and then hang up. eg: "I'm sorry but this number does not accept unidentified callers." *click* It can answer and automatically play it in the background, but that's a different ball of wax.

P.P.S. FYI, the way Call Filter "auto" forwards calls, say, when it's charging (an available rule) is to call your WSP and activate the WSP's forwarding feature. It's not a bounce from the Treo. I didn't realize this and, thinking my Treo froze after plugging it in, I reset it. Both I and my Treo then spent the better part of a day not knowing that my calls were being forwarded to my home!
