I read somewhere, recently, about an application similar to GoToMyPC, that was actually a freware program. Now I can't remember the name or where I saw it. Can anyone help out?

I actually broke down and now use it (after updating my firewall and anti-virus!) Its pretty good. It gives you access to the docs and pictures in your computers from anywhere you have web access.

You may also be thinking of LogMeIn - this gives you remote desktop control over one Windows PC for free.

I have not tried them together, but it seems like the ideal solution would be to get LogMeIn and Avvenu to run at the same time - use Avvenu for free access to files from any browser (or your Treo) and LogMeIn for free desktop access (but doesn't work from the Treo). LogMeIn has file access, but only in the paid version (once the trial expires).

LogMeIn seems interesting, but since I already subsribe to Winhand, its not really necessary for me.

Win-Hand is a remote access program of your dektop via your Treo.

Winhand is incredible....and the cost is not that great. Thanks Lulu. Why would anyone need Avvenu?

I use Avvenu now because you can access your files from any computer that has an internet connection. So you can be at a friend's house and pull up pictures on your home pc from their pc. WinHand is great for my own personal use when I dont need to share with anyone else, and when I need to start something on my home pc.
