This is a discussion on getting videos onto treo within the Treo Software forums; I just saw this very handy tutorial on how to get movies off a DVD and onto the Treo: http://www.everythingtreo.com/how-to...-on-your-treo/ ...

    Default getting videos onto treo

I just saw this very handy tutorial on how to get movies off a DVD and onto the Treo:

But can anyone point me to a tutorial for getting downloaded video onto the Treo? I'm looking for an easy way to convert whatever video formats I may commonly encounter online into a Treo-compatible format.

    Thanks

Thanks for the tip. Now what do I need to know in terms of video formats, encodings, size, etc. to target the Treo? My target device is the 700p.

A lot of that article would still apply. A good rule of thumb is 1.78 megs/minute of video. The Treo's screen is 320x320 so you certainly want a width of 320 and a height as close to that as you can get. Lots of movies today are widescreen and so when you go for a 320 width, you might have a height default to around 128 or so . . . . As far as formats, if your using TCPMP, you can go with about any kind of output format you want except WMV/WMA. I usually export as AVI or MPEG-4 for viewing with TCPMP/The Core Player
