If you're doing a hard reset and then restoring everything, then you're right...you're bringing the problem app/conflict right back.

If you usually sync your PIM data with Outlook (or something), rename your backup foldier to something else, do a hard reset, then sync, which would give you a new backup folder with your current username, that has your PIM data in it. After that, re-install one-by-one, like you said, until you ID your problem.
