Default Let's Discuss Using Your Treo as an MP3 Player

The Treo 600 is a very capable MP3 player. To get started, all you need is:
  • Real Player for Palm or PocketTunes
  • Stereo Adapter (to allow you to use your 3.5mm headphones)
  • SD Card (to hold your tunes)
  • Softick Card Export II or SD Memory Card Reader
Add music to your SD Card and then use either Real Player or PocketTunes to listen to your MP3s. The Treo's input is 2.5mm. Using 2.5mm to 3.5mm stereo adapter, it allows you to use a pair of your favorite headphones.

Most of these tips apply to Treo 650 owners. Real Player comes pre-installed on the 650. You'll want to follow the same directions for getting your music on your Treo. Rocking out applies to both the Treo 600 and Treo 650.

Default Napster to Go now supports the Treo 650

Using Pocket tunes-the Hi end version, you now can plug into your usb and have napster recognize you as a portable player. Get napster to go subscription service and the treo 650 pays for itself again. unlimited downloads for 15.00. My son has a dell dj. so between us we have about 600 songs or more from this service.

p.s. get a 2gb card from amazon and the treo 650 is ready to go.

Smile

I started using my Treo as an MP3 because I was missing calls while listeneing to my MP3 player. Now I have my music and I never miss an important call.

No and yes. When you first download music from iTunes, you will not be able to play it. There is a somewhat time consuming workaround. If you burn a CD and the re-encode the tracks -- you will be able to use them on the Treo.

Default Napster Compatible?

I was about to sign up for the Napster service but it doesn't list treo as compatible. I have a 650. Can someone please verify that it is compatible before I sign up?
Thanks,
Tina

Re-encode them as MP3s? I didn't think itunes would let you do that... Won't it recognize the track on the CD as protected AACs?

No, not at all. When you burn the CD and re-encode, there aren't any issues with copy protection.
