    Default Major problems with Chattermail

Was using Chatter and everything was beautiful. Doing everything it said it would. I use the Yahoo pop service and a 650.

One day, I switched to Yahoo Beta mail and my problems began. I have since switched back but chatter is not functioning how it used to. I think it is probably related to yahoo but dont know how to fix it.

It seems that chatter can not send any emails now and only occasionally will receive emails. Its weird because this forced me to go to my desktop to check my mail and I noticed that I couldnt access my yahoo mail either. I keep on getting an error code 5. Only on shutting down and disconnecting chatter does my yahoo account eventually revert back to normal. The second I turn chatter back on, problems again.

Does anyone know of any incompatibility between chatter and yahoo, or between chatter and yahoo beta?

    I am stumped.

    Thanks in advance.

    Default Major problems with Chattermail

Just an update:I think yahoo has fixed something on their end because it appears that I can now RECEIVE emails but cannot send. When I try to send, I get the "chatter email error 535 authorization failed (#5.7.0)" message. Any ideas?

The best I can tell, this is an SMTP sending error.

when you put in your login name, make sure you put in your FULL email address (e.g., “fdezara@yahoo.com” — not just “fdezara”).
If “TLS” isn't checked, check it and if it is checked uncheck it.

I am not a yahoo email user at all, but to recall a 535 error when first configuring Chatter for my IMAP accounts.

Yep, the password and/or security level is not set properly. Normally it is the security level that causes this error code. Play around and you will eventually get it right. I use to access Yahoo! via my Treo but that was deleted a couple of months ago.

fdezarra, just wondering how you've made out. I just stumbled across this post. I also use Yahoo and have been running the new beta for awhile now, with no problems whatsoever.

    Default Sending Error: 553 5.7.1

StillRockin' can you help? Chattermail seems to be the most compatible yet most inconsistent email application for Palm devices. Chattermail is on my 755p right now and it seems to be receiving without a problem but I keep getting "Sending Error: 553 5.7.1" and its going to save as a draft. I'm using my mac adress for the account.

    Please help if you can.

The error message is normally indicative (big word) of a small problem (little word) that really is not that difficult to correct. Normally the error message means the SMTP (sending information) is not correct. Do you have authentication enabled? What email system are you attempting to use?

I have used ChatterEmail since it first came out with no problems.

I googled your error code to see what I could find and didn't have any luck with a 553 error code. However on Palm's site, it sounds as if any 500 code is related to SMTP settings.

I do agree with Ben. There is something in your SMTP settings that isn't quite right. Just from memory (I am no longer using a Palm OS device) I can recall that one of my accounts required authentication but the other 3 didn't. What makes this weird is that all four accounts were from the SAME Server.

    Default error message

I was getting the same error message when sending out emails from my treo 755p using chattermail and Gmail IMAP. What I figured out was that my reply to email address was to long. I had entered a different reply to email address, but it somehow had the original one in there as well. I erased everyhitng, re-entered the one I wanted, and it works beautifully.
