    Default Need Help With Audible

Could someone help me please? I downloaded Audible on my computer and my Treo650. I purchased some books which are now in my Audible Library. How do I get the books from the computer to an SD card so I can listen to it on the Treo? Do I use a card reader? Hotsync?

You should be able to double click it and hotsync it. If not, drag and drop it into the Quick install and hotsync it that way

You need to run Audible Manager and then transfer the audible books over to your Treo.

If you haven't downloaded and installed Audible Manager, get it from here:

    www.audible.com/software

If you're curious about more, you can check out my sig for link to a past posting on Audible.

I dragged the book onto palm quick install (expansion card). When I ran the hotsync I got "There is no application on the organizer to handle this file (0x4005)". I double checked and I do have the Audible program on my treo.

I also tried running the Audible Manager on the computer while running the Audible program on the treo. I enabled communication. I got an error message "Failed to communicate with your device".

    Any advice?

I have never tried to install the book via Quick install, since it is digitally encrypted to only play on the purchaser of the book. So, even if you use a card reader and got the file on your Palm's SD card, and running Audible, you won't be able to listen to it. Same thing if someone tried to send you their Audible book and you have your own Audible account and software.

Have you "activated" your Treo in Audible Manager? You need to "activate" the device so that it will recognize your Treo, card reader, etc where you enter your Audible login details and it has to connect to Audible to verify the details.

Sometimes Audible tends to have glitches and stuff doesn't work. Most times, re-running the applications after closing them will get it to work.

I did activate my device in Audible Manager. When I connect the treo to the computer, it says that it's reading and recognizes the device. It's only when I try to transfer the book that I get the error message.

I ended up installing Audible Air and used that program to wirelessly download the books to my SD card that was already in my treo. It worked fine.

    Thank you for your help!

Yes, Audible Air is designed for the Treo 650 and will likely work better compared to the old cradle transfer method.

Keep in mind that you are using data when transferring via Audible air so I hope you have some kind of data plan with your cell phone carrier or will get an unwelcomed surprise when you get your bill.

I am able to use Audible and transfer using Audible Manger, but then, I beamed the Audible player over from my Zire 71. It detected the Treo fine and everything is like I'm doing it with the Zire 71.

Audible can be quite buggy. Your other way is to try to use a card reader and activate your card reader with Audible Manager. Then, transfer the files over to the card with Audible Manager. Sometimes it won't transfer if you're doing it with the device but will work with the card reader.

When you say "data plan" are you talking about internet charges? I pay a montly charge for email and internet services through Verizon. Should that cover the time I spend using Audible Air to transfer the books?

I tried using the card reader but Audible Manager will not recognize it.

Do you know of any other similar websites where I can download audio books that may work better for me?

Yes. Data plan is to distinguish between a "voice" cell phone plan, which is normally the regular phone plan that only covers the regular voice phone calls. If you already have a plan that covers internet on the cell phone, then you are "covered".

Just make sure you keep track of the "data" usage because unless you have an unlimited plan, a few downloads can add up very quickly.

Could the PalmAudible, Audible Air and books all be located on an SD card and run okay (to save RAM memory)? Or does the app have to be on RAM?
