How do I resolve this issue?? I've just received a new laptop and previously always transfered my pics from my Treo to my PC using the Quick Install. Aargh. How do I get them off without having to bring a card reader device to work??

Default Missing Media option in Hotsync and Quick Install

What do you have to send...don't know what you mean exactly in terms of what will fix my problem. If it's a CD/DVD you are sharing I can send you a mailing address. My email is sleavitt@esri.com if its a file. Thanks.

    Hi:

If you had the Media button then that means you are with Sprint. I believe they are the only ones with that button. The Palm download does not include it.

The only way to have that installed is from the Sprint disc, not a download. If you lost your disc you may be able to find one for sale on eBay.

Default workaround to get your image files off of your palm

I read this on another forum and have had this problem off and on as well so I thought that I'd post this here so that more people can be exposed to this solution.

Download the ZIP file at the below link. Extract it to a directory on your Windows machine. The top level directory (pfb) is for German users so ignore that and open up the English directory/folder under that.

    http://www.pdassi.de/13639

There are directions in there but here's a quick summary:

    1. transfer the filepc2pda.prc file to your PDA via Palm Quick Install or whatever you use to install new applications to your Palm

    2. run the newly transferred application on your Palm

    3. while that is running on your Palm, run the PFB.exe application that is in the English directory.

    4. you will be presented with a double-paned navigation window in which you can browse the storage locations in your PDA and copy whatever you want to anywhere on your Windows machine.

This gets around the annoying missing Media button problem in Palm Desktop (when you don't use the installer CD but rather install from a download)!

    Enjoy!
