palm os dictionary
Hello I was going to buy a pocket dictionary until I realized I have a treo. Unforunately due to the fact im not a "businessman" my treo doesnt get much use other than to make calls, so I might as well put the palm technology to some use. I like to read and need a good dictionary on my treo. Any idea on good dictionaries. I hate to assume so I will state that the dictionary has to be a speaking dictionary. Also another concern: will this be something that will be in my program list? I need something that will be easy to access.

There are a few freeware; however, I use a couple of shareware: PocketLingo has a number that are good (http://pocketlingo.com/home/index.asp) and Pocket Sensei has one called Nexus (http://www.pocketsensei.com/nexus.htm)

If you use your device as a business device, then look also at Documents to Go and MobiSystems.

I use the eReader e-book reader application and the M-W Collegiate Dictionary together. It works really well (much better than I expected) when the eReader is in Reference mode, you just enter the word and it goes right to it. M-W Collegiate Dictionary also came with a Thesaurus.
(edit: oops -- I just re-read your post. This is not a "speaking" solution.)

Yep, the speaking solution is not an easy one at all. Ben

Thanks guys. I guess I will just have to go without a speaking one. To bad freedictionary cant make a palm edition. I have never tried to go to their site online with my treo but that would be a hassle anyway. Need something that would be in program list. That is the best dictionary I have ever seen and its free.

I don't think this is the solution you are looking for, but I have been using "Boopsie" on my Treo with its data connection! I have accessed dictionary.com a few times through it, but highly recommend it just for accessing Wikipedia! Its a great app to have on your Treo!

Can I get a copy of this M-W Collegiate Dictionary some where for free :cool:and try it?

Hi:
I believe they offer a thirty day money-back guarantee, but I am not sure about a free up-front trial.
Paragon Software had a M&W version and they do offer free trials here, but I don't have any personal experience with them or their software.
Looks like it will cost you $38 - $40. I must say that if it is something you need for business or professionalism in general, sounds like a small investment.

Thany for your advavice and your information.
I can find up a word with a resident option. But it is still two steps option. Anyway, it is just for fun and I appreciate your help.
The M&W is not a integrated one for ereader.
Happy you year to you all.
