Default PDF Support with Adobe Reader on Palm OS devices

Several members have approached me earlier for this so I hope this post provides adequate information for all.

Besides the other attachments, Aileron Mail provides support for PDF attachments with Adobe Reader for Palm OS. Even though the PDF documents are different for Palm platform, Aileron Mail seamlessly converts them on the fly to help you view your data within the PDF attachment. For more information, visit: www.corsoft.com.

Aileron Mail – the mobile email solution can be used to manage mailboxes that are accessible via: IMAP4 and POP3 (with or without SSL), portals like Hotmail, MSN, AOL, GMail, Yahoo, as well as Microsoft Exchange based mailboxes that are accessible via Outlook Web Access. A no-cost no-obligation evaluation is available. Aileron Mail is a subscription service and includes free upgrades, outbound SMTP services, data encryption and compression, and more.

I invite you to experience Aileron Mail. If you have questions, you can always meet me on-line for interactive chat between 7am and 5pm EST, Monday through Friday, at www.corsoft.com.

Please clarify this as it is a source of constant confusion:

If I receive an email on my Treo and there is a PDF attached, will I be able to open the PDF immediately, with no PC intervention?

It seems that it passes your mail thru a proxy and when an attachment of any kind comes in, it is converted to the PDB format. Nice for PDFs, not so for other types that can usually be saved to a card or even read internally.

Honestly, I found that the hacked Piscel Broswer as being the best thing for PDFs. At least until DataViz releases a "higher than we want to pay" price for the native PDf reader they are developing for DTG8.

Pardon the delayed response. Yes, to your question. If you receive a email with PDF attachment you will be able to open it on your handheld.

Note: Adobe Reader for Palm OS is required on your handheld to open such attachments.

This isnt true. Adobe Reader on the PalmOS does NOT read native PDF files. It requires that all PDFs go thru the converter. Unless one is saving it to a SD card (which also has to be the case as the internal memory doesnt take native PDFs, but the hidden partition does :mellow, and then converting it, or using a program like PDF2PDA, then it isnt possible without a native reader.

EDIT: the Aleron mail program, uses a proxy doesnt it . That kinda a sneaky way to get people PDFs without a converter on the device or native reader. I didnt notice that part was the intention of the question asked, apologies for the negative outburst.
