Problem with deleting treo 650 files

I have treo 650, i deleted everything and free space is still 12.2M and its not enough to update software to 1.20 ...... i deleted all entries from calender, pics, sounds everything.. now how do i make the space to atleast 13.5 M?

Backup the device completely, execute a hard reset, then install the update. After installing the update, restore the device from the hard reset and add in what you could not get back on. There really should not be a problem.

WELL I DID HARD RESET, IT DELETES EVERYTHING I GUESS FROM TREO BUT EMPTY SPACE STILL IS 12.2 OUT OF 22M AND WHEN I TRY TO UPGRADE SOFTWARE IT GIVES ME ERROR SAYING YOU NEED 13.8 M FREE SPACE AND IT EXITS ..... I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THIS THING IS DOING, I HEARD GOOD THINGS ABOUT TREO 650 AND THATS WHY I GOT IT, BUT LOOKS LIKE ITS A CRAP AND IF I CAN'T UPGRADE THE SOFTWARE, I THINK I MAY JUST SELL IT AGAIN .... LET ME KNOW PLEASE IF THERE'S ANY OTHER WAY TO UPGRADE, THANKS A LOT :embarassed:

I would think that you normally start out with about 23MB if it's fresh out of the box. So, I'd suggest doing the zero out reset or factory reset which completely wipes it back to factory settings. Obviously the hard reset isn't clearing everything out if you still have only 12 MB.

After the hard reset did you sync the device before attempting to install the update? If so, that will load software back on to the device. Let me do a hard reset on my wife's 650 and see what happens. I backed up with Resco Backup first, though it did an automagical backup at 10:30p last night. I did the backup and come up with 23.1m of 23.7 available. Try the hard reset again and see what you have available. Ben

Yepper, caps are considered shouting. The thing is, I frankly have no problem with capital letters, especially in this situation, as I did not take it as yelling. Treofrog's interjection here was totally unnecessary. As for your statement below, we may feel that way, but there is no reason to put it in words like that. Ignoring such posts are the best thing that can be done. I am glad you got the free memory, but a hard reset should have been enough. A zero-out though does not do any harm. If you do have a problem with the upgrade, try it again - it does work. Take care! Ben

You're welcome, rizwankhan. We are all trying to help. Unfortunately, a lot of us at forums and newsgroups will misinterpret large caps as "shouting" and some of us forget that newbies aren't aware of its interpretation.
