Sprint. Versamail. Camera. Picture mail questions

Hi everyone.

I am a brand new Treo owner and boy am I estatic. I have a hopefuly quick question about the camera feature on the phone. Thanks for reading.

I have a sprint account and obviously chose a vision plan. There were 3 options. I took the basic one. It basically allows me to have unlimited wireless. The question I have is they told me that if I do not get the picturemail package I would have to pay for each picture I send. I look at it as who cares. I just won't send pictures.

I start playing with features on my Treo and notice through Versamail I can send attachments. The question I have is can I avoid getting the picturemail package by just sending a picture via an email as an attachment? I am not being cheap it's just if I can save $60 a year I will.

I did call sprint and the guy did not answer my question. He kept saying, "You cannot send pictures without picturemail and you will be charged for using it." Then he kept trying to sell me text messaging. Never the less I did not get anywhere. The best part was the end where he asked me, "Did I answer all of your questions?" I had him on the speakerphone and my wife almost died laughing.

I know it was a long post but I needed to add the last part since it gave me a good laugh.

I am not sure which vision plan you have, but with mine (I have had it since they began vision), I get unlimited texts, web, etc. I pay $10 a month for this and was told that its now gone up to $15 for those not grandfathered. I can send pics with the 650 through AIM (Verichat) or Versamail. I never have additional charges and do this all the time.

That's correct, HOWEVER you can send attachements, so if you really want to, you can attach pictures to e-mail messages at no charge. It requires more work that way.

Obviously Sprint has no desire to advertize this, as it would save all their users $60/year - $120 over your contract.
