Default Updated Weather forecasts for the Treo

OK, so a while back, I installed weatherman! Its a great little application for the Palm Treo. Its quick, easily expandable to other cities, and gives a great, although somewhat limited detail of the weather for the next 5 days, for a rather small investment. But yesterday, I came across TreoAlarm. This application gives you the ability to set several alarms across multiple days using a variety of Treo sounds, and also the ability to retrieve your weather. About the largest difference between this program and weatherman, is weatherman pretty much gets the job done by icons, and TreoAlarm actually gives you current conditions such barometer pressure, dewpoint, windspeed, etc, along with detailed 5 day forecasts. But TreoAlarm does even more than alarms you, and gives you weather! It will do certain things for you! It will turn your phone off at times you tell it. It will Turn your phone on as well. It will retrieve the weather with a certain alarm. You can also select several cities/zipcodes so you can check on where your at and where your going! I don’t know how stable this one is going to be, but it certainly is promising. I still like weatherman as far as a quick view of coming weather, but for the nitty-gritty, TreoAlarm has lots of potential. I haven't seen a thread here since I have been hanging out here addressing weather on the Treo, and since I just came across this, thought it was worth sharing. . . .

Well, Weathermanager is a lot prettier to look at, but Treoalarm seems to be stable and certainly gets the job done! I have used it daily since installing it, and think its one that will stay on my Treo for a while now!!! bottom line: I like it!!

yep, not much to look at, but it is worth keeping just for the alarms - particularly for the auto on/off.

BTW - I looked at your bike website. I am originally from NC - been in TexAss for 13 years - but I still miss the Carolina's. It is somewhat still "home".

Got a ride planned for bent creek (right outside of Asheville first weekend in June) Its a great place for mountainbiking. Come on home for a visit and hang out. Nothing like a bunch of 40 something weekend warriors back at the campground nursing sores and scars! We always have a great time! The riding is good! But the food and drink are great!!!

sounds like a good time - we do still come back each year (in July) and go to MYB for a week with our families. We are planning on a few days before in Boone this year and I am looking forward to it!

If Boone is where you are from, you and I were almost neighbors before Texas! I am about an hour from Boone just outside of Johnson City TN. Back before kids when I had lots of money the wife and I spent a lot of time on the slopes of Sugar MT. Yea, we vacate in Myrtle Beach quite a bit ourselves. Didn't make it down last year, and if we do this year, it will be late summer. Son is coming in from Iraq end of April and my Dad lives in Gatlinburg! We will probably end up spending most of the tme there with him . . .

    Yea, Northwest NC is beautiful!

Also, in years past, my band has performed quite a bit in that area. If we get booked over there for July, I will send you a PM. New CD should be released by then, and I will trade you one for a signed autograph of EJ!!

I posted this in the 650 forums, but for a limited amount of time the developer for Treo Alarm is offering a free activation if you test drive Treo Alarm and then post your review on your blog. Details are on his web site.

I really like this application. Also, you can download another set of Icons. (I like the blue set) Feedback from above knocked the set of icons that default with the download. The extra sets can reside on your card to save memory.

So is TreoAlarm abandonware? The support forum is gone, and there hasn't been an update since January. I e-mailed the developer sometime last year with a few suggestions (one-time alarms, countdown timer) and received a reply that he was planning them for the next release. But now, nothing.

From what I know, TreoAlarm is no longer supported. If one is looking for a weather application, the one with the best support is 4Cast at shsh.com.
