Update ...
I googled it yet again and got the same hits. There a appear to be 3 programs that can do it, one is a full MP3 program, and the other two are specific to Voice Mail. I tried two, and liked one.
I liked, and purchased, mVoiceMail. It is an old application replaced by mVisualVoiceMail, but still available at PocketGear. I also tried mVisualVoiceMail but after trying both decided on mVoiceMail. Both are available as trials, so I would suggest trying both because they are definitely different in user interface.
I liked mVoiceMail better. First, it has a very nice look to it - they spent a little time making it look pretty on the screen, unlike many 3rd party applications. And it has a standard interface with play, stop, jump ahead, etc touchscreen buttons. I also liked it better because it is entirely intuitive how it works and it remembers last settings, and is a pretty small program so doesn't use much device memory. In email, I had the option to save the wav file to the SD card, or to play it with mVoiceMail so it works with Telus email application. And the final decider, it works flawlessly. I immediately liked it, and still do.
mVisualVoiceMail still has the nice appearance. It has more features but they elimiated the play, stop, etc buttons. So when they got fancy, they made it far less intuitive, and now you have to remember what button to push to do what. The "visual" part - looking at the phone number of the voicemessage source and searching contacts to put a name to it - did not work for the format of my emails with the voicemail, so it always shows as unknown. It also searches the entire email inbox at the server for wav file attachments, so for a large inbox, this wireless operation takes a long time. So I found I was always waiting on it, and just had a bunch of voicemails displayed without any other information (it even got the date and time wrong on the list). And I was always trying to figure out what button does what. So I found it cluncky. But if you like a lot more features, and fancy, this is the one for you.
I decided less is better. Simple, straightforward, and quick to use vs fancy, not intuitive, no sender information at all extracted from the email, and long waits while it refreshes the database. Same price, but I decided on the one with less features ... less is better.
I would suggest trying both on trial, and decide after you play with them.
The other google hit I got was Corel Player. A full mp3 player. I did not test it because I like my Pocket Tunes Deluxe. I can't comment on if it will indeed play voicemail compressed files but it does appear that it will.
