Default Bluetooth and 680

I want to purchase a Bluetooth headset for my treo 680. I have read for hours in the forums and still am not clear on what model is compatible. I went to the Palm website and they have a list of compatible models but some of those models are ones I have read about not working in forums!!!

Can someone please drop some knowledge on me? The Jabra BT800 is the model I am most interested in, but I just want one that works!!!

Thank you,

D

In my experience, the 680 is much better than the 650 when it comes to bluetooth headsets. For example. A low end plantronics, and a Moto H500, would barely work on my 650. The HS-850, which many had bad mouthed here as not compatable worked flawlessly on my 650. On my 680, they all work! The plantronics is probably the weakest, but is still better than it was on my 650. The H-500 and the HS-850 are both clear as a bell.

To be on the safe side, I would go to a place like Radio shack and have a friend on stand-by. Pair several headsets there in the store, and call your buddy. See how good each sounds and if your bud can hear any difference between them. As I said, my 680 seems to be a lot better with bluetooth than my 650 is, but before I drop any more cash on head sets, I will test them before I buy . . . .

Thanks... I got the Jabra BT800 yesterday and it sounded great but I didnt like the feel of it so I returned it. I then got the Jabra BT 250v and it paired the first time, felt great in my ear, and was scratchy for some reason. I think I will take your advice and go to Radio Shack, otherwise I am going to keep buying and returning products at Staples til they ban me from the store!!!

I did what you suggested today. Went to Radio Shack, tried the H700, it worked awesome, and it was on sale! It sounds excellent for me and people on the other end.

Thanks!

GREAT! a co-worker lost his HS-850 which he was pairing with a Moto Razr, and also took my advice! He too, left Radio Shack with an H700 and loves it. Glad to hear you found one that works, and even better, you saved a little money on it!

I bought a Plantronics Discovery 665 for my Treo 680, and it doesn't work. I assumed it would work since the Treo's have supported the BT Handsfree stuff for a while, and all devices are supporting the latest BT implementation.
I guess we're still in the Dark Ages of compatibility...here is the response from Plantronics when I requested some support:

Plantronics Bluetooth headsets are compatible with devices that support a Bluetooth Handsfree and/or Headset profile.

However, we have found our Bluetooth headsets to be incompatible with the Palm Treo 680.

We do have several corded headset options for this phone.

If it;s in your budget, the H700 Motorola is working great. It is comfortable, small, and sound quality is excellent. Now, I might need to buy a bigger battery since bluetooth uses a lot of power!!!
