Bluetooth with a wired car connection
I've been using a treo 680 for about 5 months, and it connected with my built-in bluetooth connection in my car seamlessly. Last week, it would not pair with my car. A quick call to BMW revealed the phone is not registered with BMW as an approved phone (they hadn't even heard of palm or treo), so, basically, tough.
Wouldn't it be nice if palm had the presence of mind to hook up with all the major car companies (like Apple did with the i-pod), and get the treo approved. It was a great piece of kit, being able to handle calls, operate a tom tom system, all at the same time, but now, sadly, it is just yet another piece of equipment that needs all its own peripherals.
Can we start lobbying Palm to get their products more widely accepted in the mainstream?
If anyone knows a way round this to get my phone to hook up with my car again, let me know.
thanks

Hi:
If I understand your post correctly, you had been pairing for two months and it suddenly stopped? Sure sounds like something was updated, perhaps without your knowledge. With all the computerization and over the air connections, maybe BMW did a software upgrade.
Did you try deleting the car as a "Trusted Device" (I am assuming it was set up that way originally) and then try reinstalling from scratch? Bluetooth with the Treo can be hit or miss, but since you had it working perhaps a setting got corrupted or something like that.
I find it almost laughable that BMW claims they never heard of a Treo or funnier yet, they never heard of Palm!!!! I wonder if they heard of Mercedes Benz or Microsoft?? Maybe they just keep the employees locked in a room with no outside contact.
Seriously, let us know how it goes.
