Default Cardo Scala 500 Not Charging?

So, I received my Cardo Scal 500 today. As the instructions say to charge the unit for a good 4 to 5 hours before, using I hooked everything up. I noticed the AC adaptor plug won't go in all the way. About 1/16th of an inch of the plug still shows. Anyway, according to the manual, the indicator light on the 500 should glow red while charging. Only when it goes out, does it mean it's fully charged. This was rather perplexing. I turned it on and paired it with the T650 just fine. Even used it for a few calls. The sound quality was not anywhere near what I expected. Very crackly and a slight echo. Is this because it is not fully charged? What am I doing wrong? The unit is firmly "clicked" into its cradle. The only thing is I can't insert the plug all the way.

    Help!

Is the light staying red while it's plugged in? As long as it's getting charged, you should be ok. Are there any battery indicators on that unit? I've heard nothing but good things about that headset, so I'm surprised to hear your having issues. If it's charged and paired, you should be in business.

    Chris,

The only way it indicates it is charged is when the red charging light goes off. I've never seen it come on. Though it seems to to work fine. I just can't tell if it's charging or is already charged up. Everything else, except for the horrible sound is working fine.

I guess, I'll use it until the battery is low and see if it charges.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but, Chris- what BT headset are you using?

I'm using the Sony Ericsson HBH-660. I've heard good things about the Cardo Scala, Jabra 250v, Palm Headset (of course) and I remember seeing a post yesterday about a Plantronics (not sure which one).

just read your review on the Sony. I had the SOny HB330 car bluetooth system and never worked well. Too much sound interference from my end (according to people I talked to while using it). This was with a sony-ericson phone too. With the treo, it was the same (although it states that it isn't compatible with it). Maybe my car was too loud. Anyway, I'm done with the sony-ericson's for a while.
I was thinking about getting the Palm bluetooth. Sound quality in loud environments is my priority. I'm tired of people saying that they can't hear me.
While I have your attention, what's your opinion on the seido FM transmitter?
