well I tried that, but now I get an endless loop of resets. I can't get out of it. when I remove the battery and the sync cable, and then reconnect, it still endlessly reboots. So now I don't have my device at all......... Now what?

Hi-
I'm surprised disabling the conduits caused reboots? In any event, here's the Palm Knowledgebase on this issue. Basically, they recommend a soft reset. Use tip of stylus and hit the reset button in the back of your Treo (after removing case back).

ok, the warm reset stopped the loop, but when I re-enabled the sync settings as before, the original problem came back. I'm still waiting to hear from Tomtom too.... Not a happy camper right now. Thanks for sending the link.

When you first got your Treo, did you install Palm Desktop from the CD that came with the Treo? Are you using any 3rd party programs other than TomTom.

Yes, Chris, I used the cd that came with the treo. I'm sick over this because until my first post last night, my only issue was the endless time it took to sync due to the tomtom app. I ended up having to hard reset, but even after the restore, it endlessly restarted. I created a new profile, transferred my calendar and contacts, and now I have a clean start. The 3rd-party apps I had on it until last night were:

Central
KeyCaps600
Flight Tracker
KMap
VolumeBoost
Tomtom Nav 5
E-Reader Pro
Butler (temporarily, until I found Central, which I prefer)
I think that's it.

I think instead of using the new profile, I'm going to do a clean reinstall from the cd, and reinstall the apps one at a time. I just hate all this time it's taking me. Much better things to do with my time. (Sorry, I'm in a bad mood over all this.) I appreciate your trying to help me fix it. Still haven't heard from tomtom or palm. Should I install the updater (Verizon) before reinstalling my 3rd-party apps?)

I think this is the best course. Make sure your applications are the latest version and they support the Treo. Bringing apps from a previous Palm device could cause an issue.

Before updating the firmware, I'd suggest reading this thread on the Verizon update. I have Cingular and the firmware update took no more than 10 minutes.

Once you get a happy mix of software and stability, you'll again start to appreciate your Treo 650. I have a number of apps including TomTom and it's been great. I'm using the 700w now, but love my 650.

thanks for all your help, Chris. I just dread reinstalling the tomtom because it's such a pain (have to install the orig. version, then the update, for which tomtom says the update instructions are wrong). One tech says install to the main memory, but another says install to the card via hotsync. It took me hours to get it right the first time, and I'm not sure I remember what I did! (The maps, of course, got installed to the card via card reader, but everything else was very confusing). I just ordered seidio's G2350S so I better get my treo working before it gets here!

Karen (hoping my beloved treo becomes beloved again...)
