Default I can't pair my HBH-660 with my Treo

I just got my Sony Ericsson HBH-660 in the mail after reading a lot of positive reviews, but I can't get it to pair with my Treo. I turn the headset on, go to Bluetooth on the Treo, turn that on, change discoverable to yes and click "Setup Devices." I then choose hands-free setup and It starts to look for nearby devices, but then comes up with nothing.

Any ideas? This is my very first experience with Bluetooth.

    Thanks!

Did you charge it for 5 hours or so first?

Here's an exerpt from my review which details the setup. Don't despair...you've got a great headset in the HBH-660.

The first step was to power on the headset. The display is illuminated and Akono scrolls across. An animated sequence insues as the headset is looking for a Bluetooth device. I selected Bluetooth on the Treo, enabled Bluetooth, set my device to Discoverable and selected the Setup Devices button. The device name was set to the default PalmOne device. If you’ve have completed a HotSync, this will be your HotSync user id. I changed mine to what is my HotSync user id and proceeded. The Setup Devices screen offers two selections. I chose Hands-free Setup. The Hands-free setup is a wizard type that guides you through the process of “pairing the device”. Pairing is when two Bluetooth wireless devices exchange data. You now enter the Discovery Results and it shows “Nearby devices”. In a few seconds, I noticed the HBH-660. I highlighted the HBH-660 and selected ok. Next, the Treo 650 asked for the passkey. Within a second, I was notified that “the connection between my Treo and handheld device was complete” and that I could “ use my headset or carkit with my Treo. At the same time, the HBH-660 displayed the battery level and a Bluetooth icon.

Well the main reason I'm worried is because I bought this used off of ebay (and to think, I never buy anything used), so according to the meter on the display, it was charged already. Not fully charged, but plenty on the bar.

I'll try charging it for a few hours and see what happens.

    Thanks for the help.

I got it to work. The problem was that I was following the directions for if this is the first phone the device is pairing with. I didn't know that if you pair this with another phone, you have to hold both the '+' and '-' buttons for 5 seconds to active the 'pairing' function again. If it's the first time, it will automatically do this.
But so far so good! Thanks for your help.

    Default Impressions thus far?

Now that you've been using the Sony Ericsson for a couple of months, what do you think re: ease of use, ergonomics & fit, reception & signal strength, value, etc.?

Like everything, I wish it were a bit smaller. It's a comfortable headset. Sound quality is still A+. Included neckstrap is great - I use it all the time. Battery life could be a touch better. If I had a car adapter or cradle, it wouldn't be an issue. Connection with Treo is quick.

The new HBH-300 is supposed to perform better in loud environments.

Overall, it's a very solid headset. The HBH-662 is also out now -- to be honest, I'm not sure what the differences are between them.

    ....my two cents.

Thanks Chris. Looks good, although I'm probably going to wait until voice dialing works from a BT headset. Until then, for me it's just an expensive way to save a hand during a phone call.

I'm also interested in Slim 2000's experience. Slim?
