Default Jabra 250v and Treo Answer Call Jabra Tech Explanation

Well i just called Jabra Technical support to discuss the compatibility of the Jabra 250v with the Treo and they put the blame on the lack of a true handsfree profile on the treo.

What i'm experiencing is i canot pick up the call using the headset, sometimes in a blue moon it works and sometimes it does not. It has become increasingly frustrating especially when i have my phone in my jacket pocket while driving. The only features i get that work are redial and hang up. for the life of me i could not get the unit to answer a call. Does anyone else have issues with this? Could it be my Treo or my Headset? Unfortunately i need to use a bluetooth headset that my carrier sells reason being i sell in the store, the available options are BT800 BT250 Plantronics 2500, Motorola HS850, another small motorola HS810 i think, and that's it.

Woah weird my headset just vibrated for no apparent reason.

The 250V is miserable with the Treo. Don't bother with it.
If you "have" to buy one from your store you may want to go with the Planatronics or Moto HS850 but frankly I don't care for any of those that you mentioned.

    Jabra BT250v for Treo 700w/650

Sorry, but I have to disagree with Millerhifi. I have a BT250v and it works perfectly with my Verizon T650. I have it configured to slide on over to the earpiece on the 2nd ring. It works about 99% of the time.

The only time it may not work is right after I have fired up the BT250v. After turning on the BT250v, when I get the first call coming into the phone, it acts as if it isn't there. I then hit the "power" button and the call flips over within 2-4 seconds. Because it happens so rarely, I haven't pursued the issue.

I tried a Motorola head set similar to the one in the link above but because of the T650 volume issues and my deafness (caused by years of loud music), I needed something that would sit more inside the ear rather than on the ear.

And, the vibrating this headset does when a call comes through is actually helpful when in a louder environment. To some, the vibration was not needed, but I find it useful.

Bottom line, for me, this particular headset does what I need it to do.

    Thanks,
    Kurt

I also use a Jabra 250v with my Treo 650, on Cingular, and it works great. I noticed that the response time is almost instantaneous after I did the Cingular update.

Well i went over to bestbuy and picked up two new headsets to try out. The new Sony Ericsson HBH 610 and the Plantronics Voyager 510.

The plantronics voyager works as advertised picks up rejects, redials, everything actually very impressive. The Sony ericsson, picks up hangs up rejects, except redial however with INSTANTANEOUS reaction.

The SE honeslty picks up the call before it even starts ringing when dialing out and when receiving is instanantaneous as well seems like less than a second! no crackling noises at all either in my enviornment which rendered the BT 250v unusable.

Now the dilema i have is what do i do since in my store we don't carry either headset so i can't promote any particular one which means my boss will be really upset if i can't demo them and promote the selling of them.

Now i'm wondering is my Jabra defective? Out of all 3 headsets i've tried, i actually like the fit of the jabra the best, the plantronics is nice but it's very visible, and the SE is the quickest out of the bunch, why can't i get a headset that does all three easily?

On another note, everyone says the redial function of the 250v doesn't work, however for me it works and pretty consitently too i might add go figure.

Default Anyone try the new Plantronics Discovery?

Has anyone tried this headset? It seems that plantronics provides all of the features of the Handsfree profile with the Treo 650, i was wondering about the speed of the linking. Thinking about what my store offers i think it would be an easier bet to recommend the buyer for Bell Canada to look into the Plantronics headset than Sony Ericsson headsets since we don't cary any of their phones.

The SE is the best in my opinion. I have the HBH-610 that just replaced my HBH-660. It works instantly on incoming as well as outgoing calls.

The only thing I liked about the 250V was the fit. If you moved a foot away from your treo all you got was bunch of crackling noise.

how do you configure the BT250 to slide over on the 2nd ring? i'd like to get mine to do that....

otherwise, i have no problems with my jabra 250 and cingular treo 650 being compatible. occasionally, if i have taken the phone and left my headset in the car for a while, when i come back i need to reset the headset so the treo finds it....anyone else have this problem?

To get the call coming into the headset on the 2nd ring, I did the following:
Go into Prefs > Handsfree > and change "Auto Answer" to Immediately, After 1 ring, After 2 rings or disable depending on your preference.

Actually, after looking this up, mine is set to "After 1 ring", not 2 rings. This helps me get my phone out of the holster to see who it is before the call comes through. But, if I set it to immediately, I am sure the call would come right through to the BT250v headset.

As for having to "pair" the BT250v with the Treo 650 multiple times, I had a similar problem with v1.03 on Verizon (albeit, it happened on occasion). Once I upgraded to updater v1.04, I have not had the problem. Even when my T650 was rebooted by a program crash. Not to say the updater fixed the problem, but I simply have not had any re-pairing of my headset to the phone since the upgrade was completed.

I am sure there are better (clearer) BT devices out there because I get the crackling noises as well. I think it relates to your physical location as at my home, my wireless network causes quite a bit of interference, especially the closer I get to the router. At work, it can get bad, but my opinion is that it relates to the components used to build the structure. Though, I can have my BT250v on while at our techbench while my phone is nearly 30 feet away (through 2 walls and a hallway) and it still works (with the crackling noise/interference).

It really depends on how you need the BT device to function and where you use the equipment. Much like the cell phone carrier signal will vary at the same location. The same could be said for the BT device, the phone and the location.

    Thanks,
    Kurt
