SO, the Seidio GPS unit, being a built in GPS receiver, WILL allow you to navigate AND have a phone call as long as...
1. You are using a hard wired head set (any provider)
2. If you are a cingular customer, you must used a hard wired headset
3. You can use a bluetooth headset while navigating as long as your phone is with Sprint, Verizon or Alltel. Any other providers won't work.

Not the answer we were hoping for, but at least it's clear.
By the way, we do have a store here at Everything Treo.

Cool, you may see some orders from me soon!
Not sure on the GPS however now. Just the whole can't talk while GPS is going is tough for me. Many times on my old built in unit I would be talking on the cell with the GPS going, and rely on the GPS to ding me, tell me a turn is coming up ahead as I was paying attention to the road while on the phone. Now, if a call comes in, I lose that and it's vital for me in my day to day operations.
Ohwell, may look at a Garmin or something.
Thanks again!
PS, I found out from Palm that the new GPS bundles come with TomTom6. What receiver it is though I don't know.

Ok, I have to post this. I asked the "Treonauts" why Cingular BT headsets would not work with the Seidio GPS unit, here was the first response:
Response 1:
"Hello
Cingular uses a GSM signal which interferes with the GPS signal. This is why you would not be able to use a BT headset with a GPS system.
Jay Gittens, Customer Care Spe******t
Ok, so he says I could not use a Cingular Bluetooth headset (Right?) because it uses a GSM signal that the others don't. Ok, I asked what does the Verizon, Spirint, etc phones use... (and my brother, who has a GSM phone through T-Mobile, uses his GPS and has no interfernce what so ever....)
Response #2
"Hello
As stated Cingular uses a GSM signal which is a satellite signal which would interfere with the GPS signal. Sprint, Verizon and Alltell are all cdma networks which ate not satellite signals, these use fiber optic signals which do not interfere with the GPS connection.
Jay Gittens, Customer Care Spe******t
WOW! Wireless fiber optic?
Ok it is just me or is this guy a ding a ling?

What do you mean CYCLE your bluetooth... just turn it off then back on ? cuz I've tried that and it didn't work yet... The treo 650 and the gps do pair with bluetooth connection, but tomtom doesn't see the gps yet... Please help if you can . I had this working a long time ago then the gps receiver broke so i sent it back, just got it back and cant remember what i did to get it working before

Not the GPS device but the Bluetooth on the Treo. By turning it on/off, it seems to initiate contact with the GPS device - at least, that has been my experience with the TomTom 5 bundle with both the Treo 650 and 700p.
Power up GPS and be sure it has a clear view of the sky (dashboard works great)
- Open up TomTom
- If TT does not see the GPS, press Home key and go to Bluetooth.
- Turn Bluetooth OFF and then ON.
- Open up TomTom Navigator
- TomTom should see GPS unit.
Of course, you have to make sure the GPS is paired before starting this process.

Ok so I tried reinstalling everything and it didn't work ... Still says no GPS Device... I have no idea what I am doing wrong... I have paired the GPS receiver to my Treo 650... it shows up in the trusted devices list... then I go to use TomTom Navigator 5 and it says no gps device so I go to change preferences and select the "show GPS status" - then "configure" Then I choose Other NMEA GPS and change the GPS Baud Rate to 38400 because that is what I think I'm supposed to do... that's what got it working before I had to send it in for repairs...

I just purchased a GPSlim Wireless gps bluetooth receiver. I have installed the Tomtom onto my Sd card and it seems to be fine. But I am having trouble receiving signals. It shows that I am connected to the treo but on the screen it shows "No GPS Device." The gps receiver has been added to my Bluetooth trusted device.
I have tried turning on/off from my treo bluetooth. Please let me know what else I can try... I've also reinstalled everything after whiping everything off my palm to make sure I had a clean start.

I too bought a bundle which included the program and maps on an SD card (Western Europe). I read the instructions, inserted the SD card in my Treo and nothing happens. I can see and access Contacts Navigator which opens my contacts, almost all of the 1 GB card is full so I imagine Navigator and the maps are there, tried reinserting the card again, nothing. I read all the posts on this excellent thread but only find your mention of having the software and maps on a SD card. The Set-up 104 doesn't find the card inserted in the Treo connected to my Mac (MacBook, Tiger) or with the card reader attached with the SD inside. Any suggestions anyone?

A few questions about the GPS systems. From all my research this is the way I understand it. You need the following....
1. Treo 650
2. Bluetooth Reciever (Palm, TomTom, or GlobalSat BT-359) $150ish
3. Software that includes maps. $150ish
Which is why the bundles are $250+. Right? Am I missing anything?
And do they all have batteries so if I wanted to walk with it I could?
Thanks.
